Her footfalls echoing through the sparsely appointed Hall, she paced slowly back and forth in thought. Her stern and matronly face showing no hint of emotion or glimpse of the thoughts occupying her mind. Fingers drumming softly on the top of her carved staff, she closed her eyes to focus. Muttering softly under her breath her steely eyes flicker open and her pacing began again.
A few words suddenly slipping from her pursed lips in her commanding voice, filling the silence about her. "Law" followed by "control chaos" punctuating her footsteps. With a solemn nod to herself, she paused once again and clapped her hands loudly and waited, foot tapping, for response. With eyes narrowed, she clapped again louder.
In response to the second summons, a solemn servant strode into view bowing deeply as he approached.
"Madame, how might I be of service."
She nodded curtly at the man, her eyes regarding him sternly.
"Prepare the doves for work. I will have missives to be sent within the hour."
"How many doves will be required Madame?"
"Eight." she replied without hesitation.
"It shall be readied Madame." he responded as he bowed and departed to accomplish his task.
Her eyes followed his departure, her knuckles white from her grip on her staff. With a nod to no one but herself she spoke slowly.
"There will be law and I will bring order. Things have become out of control. This shall be changed."
She struck the tiled floor with the tip of her cane to accentuate her edict and turned and strode down the corridor towards her office to prepare her communications.
